Palak Paneer
Palak Paneer
(Spinach in Cottage Cheese)
Serves: 2-3 person
Ingredients:
- Spinach (Palak)- 2 bunches/ 1 medium sized packet
- Cottage cheese (Paneer)- 500g
- Fresh Cream- 1/2 cup
- Onions- 1 large
- Tomato- 1 large
- Ginger and Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Sugar- 1/2 spoon
- Oil/Butter: 3 tbsp
- Green chillies- 3 slit into halves
Dry Spices:
- Turmeric- 1 tsp
- Cumin powder- 1 tsp
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Cinnamon stick- 1/2
- Cardamom- 3-4 pots
- Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Preparation:
- In a pan heat some oil/butter and add cumin seeds, cardamom, cinnamon sticks and sauté it for few seconds and add onions, ginger and garlic paste and tomatoes.
- Saute them for few minutes, then add spinach and let it soften up.
- Once you see the spinach has changed colour and are soft. Turn off the heat and let it cool.
- Take a blending jar and blend the cool spinach, tomatoes, green chilies and onions into a fine paste.
- In the same pan, add few drops of oil and turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt and sugar and pour the blended paste. Cook it and stir it constantly, until it tastes perfect to your taste buds.
- Add the Paneer cubes and fresh cream. Stir it for few more minutes and the yummy, creamy Palak Paneer is ready to serve!
Serve it with Tandoori Roti, Chapati, Poori or plain Rice.
